ONE, TWO, THREE: Simple Steps to Support Local and Sustainable Food

Saturday, February 21st: 12-3pm

Above the Market

Driftless Market, 95 West Main Street, Platteville

There are simple ways we can all support local and sustainable food in our community and region.  A wide variety of great options for finding local foods are often abundant if you know where to look.

ONE - check out local groceries like the Driftless Market.  We carry more local products than you might imagine: local veggies and fruit, eggs, dairy, meat, sauces and syrups, bulk grains & granolas, soap, art, and so much more!

         - Look for local restaurants like Dewey's Café who utilize quality local foods in their daily and seasonal menus. Located on the square in Lancaster.

TWO - Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a great way for you to be a partner with a local farmer and get weekly produce throughout the growing season.  Two Onion Farm and Honey Hill Organic Farm utilize the Driftless Market as a drop off location for their weekly CSA.

THREE - Buy Direct from local farms and farmers. Local Farmers Markets are a great way to directly connect with the farmer.  Platteville Farmers Market runs all year: every Saturday from May through Oct and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from November through April.

Join the Driftless Market in a celebration of local foods at a three hour open house highlighting many local farmers and producers in and around Platteville. Discover other unique, creative and sustainable local products as well.

Come meet local food growers and producers:  Two Onion Farm, Three Flat Acres, Lange Farm, Platteville Farmers Market, UWP Sunflower Oil Project, Kelley Placke Organic Milk Soaps, Monique’s Simple Pie Crusts, Lonesome Stone Milling and Dewey's Cafe. There will be information and samples of local products, as well as face painting and kid friendly activities.

The event is scheduled to begin at Noon.  As this is the 3rd Saturday of the month, check out the Platteville Farmers Market before hand at Trinity Episcopal Church, 210 Market Street.  Then wander over to Driftless with your appetite and enjoy good company and tasty treats.

Event is free and donations will be accepted to support the Platteville Food Pantry and  Senior Food  and Nutrition Voucher program!
