A Rural Alphabet is a collection of 26 illustrations and complementary poems from A-Z. Every Letter of the Alphabet is represented in its own unique way and reflects the soul of rural life: traditional food preparation, craftsmanship, animal husbandry, agriculture and the environment.

This book is a collaboration between the Artist, Monica Jagel and the Poet, Joanne Adragna Shird. Monica and Joanne share not only the love of nature, but the earths preservation as well. This collaborative effort has been an organic experience, one which grew naturally from the artist’s kindred hearts and souls. Monica and Joanne share deeply not only the love of nature, but the earths preservation as well.

Join Driftless in welcoming Monica Jagel of Viroqua, WI for a book signing and opportunity to see her books and gift cards.

Book signing will be from 11am - 1pm.

Homemade Baby Food & Cloth Diapering Workshop

Join us at the Driftless Market on Tuesday evening, Oct. 22nd starting at 5:30 for workshop and time for discussion.

Making your own baby food using fresh, local, and organic ingredients is an easy and wonderful way to begin a lifetime of healthy, adventurous eating, and a great way save money.  Using modern cloth diapers is surprisingly simple, extremely budget-friendly, and may actually reduce the number of loads of laundry you do each week.  Join local mom, Allison Carroll, for insights, tips, and tricks on these two planet-friendly parenting options.

Allison is a full-time working mother of two daughters ages 3 and 1½ . She has made her own baby food from the start, and estimates she’s saved $1,500 by cloth diapering her youngest.  Her proudest moment as a parent came when she uttered the words “no more kale until you eat some macaroni and cheese.”

Please register by calling the Driftless Market at 608-348-2696, emailing, or registering at the front counter. Fee for workshop is $5.00 and the proceeds will be going to Family Connections.

One Woman show written by Robert Lynn and performed by Chrissy Hogue. Production will be at the Platteville Municipal Auditorium, 75 North Bonson Street, Platteville, WI

You can pick up tickets at the Driftless Market or online at

$10.00 general admission for the 8pm showing. or $25.00 with appetizer reception starting at 7pm.

Award-winning actress Chrissy Hogue brings her comedic and dramatic tour de force to the Platteville Auditorium stage in Robert Lynn's "The Stupid Economy." Chrissy takes the audience on a dizzying ride through her roles as seven women struggling with their personal finances since the economic crisis of 2008 and into the present.

From the bottom to the top of the economic ladder, Chrissy weaves a story that will make you laugh, cry and stomp your feet in frustration at our current economic condition.

Through personal accounts, the show gets to the heart of the matter of what's ailing our country. Touching on everything from the college experience to Chinese production, racism, refinancing, politicians, and magic dogs, the performance provides a launching point for a conversation we all need to have about where we've been and where we're going, as individuals and as a country.

Presented in partnership with Platteville Community Theatre as a fundraiser for the Friends of Platteville Municipal Auditorium, this production was made possible by generous grants from the Platteville Community Fund and Grant County Tourism.  Funds will go toward the renovation of the Platteville Municipal Auditorium.
